Changi is packed with a lot of surprises. There are still so much to discover, though Changi is my neighborhood. There are many old Black and White colonial houses in Changi including the former Changi Hospital. Of late, many of these old Black and White houses are rejuvenated to hotels and F&B outlets at Hendon Road and Netheravon Road off Changi.

The Changi Boardwalk is just a stone throw away. The boardwalk is one of the best place to catch the sun set. After the sun goes down, just drop by the hawker at Changi Village for the best Nasi Lemak and Roti Prata in town.

Don't keep your camera when the sun goes down. Life has just begun!

Here are some shots which I have taken at Pasir Ris after the sun set. All shots were taken in colors. I used Lightroom to convert them to Black and White. Sometimes, B&W gives you a different perspective.

Here are some photos taken with my Smartphone Sony Xperia Z2. Smartphone camera has improved tremendously since I had my first camera phone more than 10 years ago. In the past, I have never taken camera phone seriously. Today, I must say camera phone has came a long way.

Basis photography rules still apply in smartphone. Ensure sufficient natural lights to capture a good photo. Avoid shooting against the sun light. Avoid using digital zoom. If need be, crop your photo instead.

Don't write off your smartphone camera yet!

Adobe Lightroom

I have started using Adobe Lightroom to manage my photographs recently. I have been using Adobe Photoshop for many years but I find that Lightroom is more for photographer. If you are into photography as a hobby, do take note of Lightroom as a sidekick.

Return to Emerald Hill

Tucked in a quiet corner of Orchard Road, Emerald Hill is a residential neighbourhood rich in the Peranakan (aka Baba aka Straits Chinese) culture. It is one of the best place in Singapore to see the Baba architecture. Emerald Hill is a perfect setting in town where you can have a nice stroll and test your camera. Surprisingly, this little known residential enclave is within Orchard Road busy shopping belt.

Transforming Jurong

You may have heard a lot about Jurong becoming a gateway in the west region in recent years but have you taken a walk yourself to feel the heartbeat around the Jurong East MRT station? One of the highlights besides the BIG Shopping malls, is the Elevated Pedestrian Network known as J-Walk. This new concept offers a very nice walking experience. J-walk provides a seamless pedestrian access between developments in the whole of Jurong Gateway without having to come down to the street level.

Balestier Road – of chicken rice, bak kut teh and tau sar piah

What comes to your mind when Balestier Road is mentioned? Chicken rice, food, shop houses, Sun Yat Sen Villa, low budget hotels, busy road et cetera. Balestier is known for its food such as bak kut teh, chicken rice and tau sar piah with budget hotels sprucing up in the area. Balestier is also home to many low rise shop houses, lighting shops, Fragrance Hotels and Sun Yat Sen Villa.
